Calling all dog owners: All households within the Parish should now have received a leaflet form Allerdale Borough Council regarding dog fouling & the penalties for failing to ‘pick up’ after your dog. Despite this subject being raised many times in the Throstle & at Parish Council Meetings there are still a selfish few who are giving dogs a bad name by refusing to clear up after their dog. In early June Cumbrian Magistrates fined a Wigton man £190 for just such an offence. Free poop bags are available from Thursby PO and from dispensers in the village – there is no excuse.
The Dog Wardens are aware of the problem in Thursby and will respond to complaints. Residents who witness dog fouling are asked to contact and provide as much information as possible, the following: www.allerdale.gov.uk/dogfouling, email firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01900 702800.
On a similar theme – the Sports and Recreation Committee & Thursby School would like to remind people that dogs should not be exercised and walked on the Jubilee Field or school playing field at any time – everyone’s co-operation is sought with this request.
