Although the village is looking better all the time, there are still dog owners who do not pick up after their dogs. Particular concern has been expressed about the messes along School Road by the school.

It is a legal requirement to pick up after your dog and the penalty for committing an offence contained in a Dog Control Order is a maximum fine of £1,000.

Not only does dog muck make the place look untidy or cause a mess if people tread in it and walk it into their home, it is a public health risk.

If dogs are not treated regularly they can carry a worm, which can be deposited in faeces.

The worm can easily be transmitted to children and potentially result in permanent damage to their eyes.

If you see someone not cleaning up after their dog, please call the Dog Warden (01900 702702).
